Community Transit (www.communitytransit.org) in Everett (Snohomish County), Washington, has begun implementation of Interactive Intelligence’s Customer Interaction Center telecommunications system furnished by KRP Communications to support Transit operations.

“Our previous system was fragile and hard to repair, said Tim Chrobuck, Community Transit’s Chief Technology Officer. There was a clear need for a new phone system, and the KRP solution will move us forward in our operational and technological capabilities.”

The telecommunications solution being implemented by KRP at Community Transit will support vital communications for the customer service and dispatch staffs.

“This system is going to provide us with a lot of business functions that we don’t have now,” said Ann Martin, Technology Support Services Supervisor. “All you’re going to have to do is pick up the hand set. You can control everything else completely through your computer.”

System cutover is planned for first quarter, 2009, and will include the addition of new functions such as presence management, which allows employees to see in real time if others within the company that they are trying to contact are available; and unified communications, which gives the ability to listen to voicemail through Microsoft Exchange/Outlook email.

“We are pleased to welcome Community Transit into the KRP family,” said Keith Macdonald, KRP Communications President and CEO. “The solution sets we deliver provide our clients with state-of-the-art technology and business capability—and the consulting and support resources to back them up.”

“Community Transit has a great partnership with local residents to provide transportation and services in Snohomish County,” said Joyce Eleanor, Community Transit CEO. “We also need additional partnerships in areas like technology. KRP is a great business partner. Its technology solutions, expertise and commitment are very important for our services and operations.”
